Yay, me!  Two weeks into my 52 project, and I’m still going strong.    This week’s theme was ‘toys’.  We just happened to pull out daddy’s old Smurf figures last weekend while the girls were watching the old cartoon.  When I saw my oldest playing with them along the windowsill, I grabbed my camera and knew I had my toy shot.

Of all of the sweet, adorable, giggle-filled faces I shot in 2012, I’m supposed to pic ONE that’s my favorite?  Well, I somehow managed to.  And it happens to be a face I hold very near and dear to my heart…my oldest daughter.  I took this shot late in December 2012 while we were having some after-the-holidays fun at one of our favorite parks.  As 2012 wore on, I got busier and busier with work, and didn’t do nearly as much personal shooting as I’d like to have done.  So, I kind of love that my ‘best face of 2012′ is from a personal photo.

I loved meeting Mr. V and his sweet, sweet parents!  At just about 6 weeks old, he was making great eye contact and full of smiles.  Enjoy looking at these adorable pics!

I met this sweet family of four back in March of 2012, when I photographed their daughter’s birthday party.  As fun as that was, I was thrilled to get the chance to work with them again for family pictures in time for the holidays.  Plus, it’s always awesome when you show up to a session and find a giant leaf pile ready for the kiddos!

I met up with this sweet family of three (who’s on their way to becoming four!) for some pictures late last fall.  Since most of my business has been word-of-mouth so far, I was really excited to hear that mom found me through a search for area photographers!  (My blogging and SEO were paying off, LOL).  We were able to document mom in her pregnancy, and take some pictures of the family just as they were before their newest member arrives…which should be sometime this month!  Enjoy!

This was the session that felt like it would never happen!  We tried for September…too hot.  Tried again in October…my kids were sick.  Then again in October, and we barely beat the clouds and rain that afternoon.  Whew!  I really love this family, though – they were one of the very first families I photographed late in 2011, and it means so much when clients return to you for another round of family memories.  It’s been great watching their boys grow!  Enjoy!

New year, new photo project!  I’ve embarked on projects the past two years, and haven’t quite seen them through.  But this year will be different, right?  THIS year is always going to be different when we start something anew.    My 2013 project is one photo a week based on a theme.  I’m participating in this project with many other photogs from around the country, so I’m hoping to find strength in numbers!  This week’s theme is ‘new’…my new slippers from Santa that I can’t seem to live without.

So, I do a lot of work with little kids you know?  When this mom contacted me about a family session, and mentioned she had three children, I automatically assumed they were little guys.  I gave her my standard info about making it fun, playing games with the kids, letting them run and play…and then felt slightly stupid when I got her info before the session and realized they were all teenagers!  HA!  I quickly assured them I wouldn’t be forcing anyone to run races or make silly faces.    We had a great time together taking some family pics this past fall.  Enjoy! (BTW, I LOVE the mother-daughter picture!)

Happy Halloween!  I can’t think of a better blog post for today than one from a recent session with one of my favorite SPP families.  Not sure I can do much justice to their costumes through my less-than-creative words…so I’ll let the pictures do the talking for me…
